making from home
mysa (swedish, v.) - to get/be comfortable, cozy, and content at home
studio mysa started as the woodworking of taylor mcclanahan, based in the coastal southern california town of costa mesa, and is growing to include other types of homemade projects such as knifemaking and rug tufting
while a science teacher day-to-day, my experience as a “maker” has expanded since spring of 2020, and now finds its home here and on instagram @studiomysadesigns
Woodworking started out for me as a means to an end - I needed a dining table, a bench to go with it, a tv stand, and some patio furniture. I found that I enjoyed the process of woodworking, and I decided to start trying some other projects such as cutting boards. As I began to post about my work, I started to get commissions, which has allowed me to explore my curiosity and interest in many different aspects of woodworking, from furniture to kitchen-goods to skateboards.
As the 2020 pandemic continued, I began to pick up other maker hobbies, and decided to bring them all under one roof here at studio mysa designs.
